01 - 10.We've had this design sitting in a draw for many years waiting for the right opportunity to bring it to life. When our good friends Francis and Hamish @Wilder Ways started up their knife making business this year, we knew the time was right. Francis and Hamish have done a tremendous job of bringing the Journeyman design into reality.
The double layer Macarta handle in green and brown represents the trademark canvas colours we use in our pouches and packs. The sweeping curve spine was a key feature that really makes this beauty stand out from the rest!Since we are doing such a limited run of these we thought why not go all out, right?
So we used one of the finest Stainless Steels on the market.AEB-L is a very good all round stainless steel. There was a time where the benefits of carbon steels outweighed the stainless options. However these days the stainless steels are in our opinion the obvious choice for outdoor knives. AEB-L has very good hardenability so it can handle higher hardnesses such as 62 HRC. It’s also a very wear resistant steel whilst still allowing for a fine keen edge to be achieved and keeping the steel resistant to corrosion. So this blade is truley one for all enviroments!
Handle Material:Micarta is similar to G10 but instead of fibreglass it is layers of canvas that are infused with resin under very high pressure. Micarta has a nice resemblance of a wood grain whilst being a more resilient material.
Grind:Often called the Scandi grind this has become one of the most commonly found grinds on bushcraft and woodcarving knives. As the name suggests it is an incredibly popular grind in Scandinavia. The Scandi is a flat grind generally around 11 degrees per side, although there is no exact angle that a Scandi has to be but generally it is between 10 and 15 degrees.
